  • Without choice.

a bicycle came with its bells ringing

I heard it having no choice

the birds chirping before sunlight even started falling

I heard it having no choice

the motor running since yesterday night

lifting water up over my head

I heard it having no choice

    I played some jazz

none of that could carry away whatever

    was haunting me from inside

and so I remained like that,

    hearing without choice

as I waited for the night.

  • Before pissing and a swollen throat.

    fruit-seller barber newspaper vendor

the 2nd and 3rd streets are glowing just like yesterday

a man fell last night of his bike

I watched as men gathered around and I stopped my bike

    next to that man’s

a hole had formed on one side of his hard head

    he could hardly get up

and once he got up, the first thing he did was look straight at the spot where he had fallen

and then he adjusted his spectacles, they got dirt on them

‘What happened?’ asked a man to him

‘Nothing. I don’t know,’ said the man as he was helped to a corner

of the 2nd and 3rd street

a car followed, a boy was driving

fear on his face, he could shit right there

he got down, was pushed to the same corner

he spoke no word and looked all around like a newborn,

    only with bewilderment

all the men moved from everywhere else to that corner

and the cussing and yelling followed

just like the last time when something like that had happened

I started my bike and rode off to my usual bar

and I luckily found a good enough spot to sit and drink

    for the remaining night.

  • Sleep, terror.

    at 3

again at 4 or maybe 4:15

I was trembling and asleep and aware somehow of my trembling

    something curled next to me

    sobbing, shouting

    fighting something under my blanket

I was too lazy to open my eyes and come, out of wherever the hell I went to

    the shouting continued

for a moment, I was convinced it was my brother

    sobbing and talking in sleep

I was alone and quite drunk and it was 4:45 or something and my eyes were still closed

the cold floor under my body had frozen my bones

I looked around with my eyes closed

and I didn’t want to think again

    abut when the nightmare ends,

the one I am living each day with my both eyes open.

  • One more morning.

    waking up dizzy

surrounded by filth and more filth

to the same place I went again

I cannot say if the sun rose or the night came yesterday

    I am haunted by something

once again, I have begun to hate myself

with my rage-filled brain, I can do nothing

this explosion within me has my eyes clouded

I function alone, I am nothing

I wish I were something more

    I equally wish to die

    nothing fills my eyes

    I grow back like weed

words like spears go through my head

    my birth has troubled many.

  • On my second book of poetry.

Just a little update. Started writing new poems today for my second poetry book. Feels great. Memories, ideas, sentences after sentences. All flowing out like a flooded river. It’s raining all the time. I am fighting my laziness. Someday, I might win. Have a great week ahead 🙂

  • Near a folded newspaper.

somebody talks in the other room

    about what, I cannot say

    maybe some revolution

    I am turning colder

my legs close to each other

    my hands folded

I look up towards the source

    of all this untimely chill

    outside, a green river flows

    washing off man’s dirty footprints

late noon, the chill fills my room

    I cannot sit in comfort

for lack of choice, I have to.

  • Quarter to evening.

    swollen veins in my body

    free from sweat

    free from a fear

    I sit full of pain

    orange light fills the room

    next to mine

    somebody has arrived

    another family, another kid,

    another television running

    another bunch of unnecessary talks

I walk myself away from the light

an hour later, I start forgetting.

  • Just gazing above.

I will sit for another hour

until the last particle of light is gone

but soon a disturbance will come

    flying towards my body

    and I would be surprised

if that is not able to make me

    move from here

    to some other place

until then, I will watch gold

drink gold, grow my neck stiffer

just in case the blade lost its sharpness.

  • Covering slowly.

    blue has legs

it covers all the white space

    it can flow

if you look at it carefully, you will find that it can

    a subtle movement

towards the west, grey is bursting out of white

towards the north, a painting hangs, all white

    cloud fucking cloud

shit bags like Picasso could never make such an artwork

time to travel south but I do not know where

I watch them who know and are traveling.

  • Birdsongs.

    Copyright © Tomic Riter.

    twilight wind carries everywhere

    birdsongs

trees are hanging from the sky

    penetrating these walls

their roots rising from my fingertips

I could have sipped all this dirty water

that was clean before it fell down

    sometimes, traveling miles gives nothing

other than vast green fields and no talks

birdsongs die and gold washes away

    from the sky.
