goodnight, my love!
I'm done like you are
I'm done here and for now
tonight, I'm going to get the longest sleep
of my life
goodnight, my heart!
I'm finishing my glass of rum
as fast as I can
and I'm going to forget it all
I think I won't have another one
I think that this is it
and I cannot go further down
I cannot be more out of this world
than I am right now
goodnight, mon amour!
I wish you well.

Goodnight my love: A Poem

Another day: A Poem
today,
nobody came to fight at work
nobody complained about anything
no loud noises
no arguments
nobody talked to anybody
nobody ate or drank
nobody sang songs
nobody danced in the dark
nobody hated anybody
nobody loved
I came home with nothing
another day
nothing happened
nothing at all.

In the sky tonight: A poem
in the sky tonight
moon is round and bright
too round
too bright
the witches on earth
looking up at it
with hair open and clothes off
and eyes wide
and asses swaying
as if summoning the electric current
unbelievable!

I feel better: A Poem
how beautifully fingers press
the piano keys
black white black white white white
white white black black white black
black black black black white
white white white black white
or in some other pattern
no clue but
a pattern and then another
another and
nothing is random
nothing is chaos
here's another one by the fabulous Paterlini
something that the ears do not believe in
when they hear
and when they hear, they melt eyes
and resurrect this stone heart
I feel better.

Rum down: A poem
rum first and then ice cubes
ice cubes first and then 90 ml of dark rum
nothing first and no cubes
a little fizz on the top
soda will do
or some carbonated drink
or some other sweet poison
I'm here
I'm not going anywhere
when have I ever gone?
make me a good drink
tickle me with a forgotten song
a memory
a something on and on
get me drunk
make me feel alive
and when I'm atop the highest summit
throw me down from there
punch me into my grave.

Takes a lot: A poem
takes a lot to wash away the night from my face
takes a lot to wash away the memories from my eyes
takes a lot to let a severe pain sink
takes a lot to walk again sometimes
take a lot to clean the dirt off my skin and my mind
takes a lot to getting used to nightmares each night
takes a lot to fail repeatedly and blame nobody
takes a lot to have nothing and not complain
takes a lot to be utterly broke and be happy
takes a lot to sacrifice what’s most dearest
takes a lot to be alone and not lonely
takes a lot of years and lives to completely forget the scars
takes a lot sometimes to keep blood red and moving inside the veins
takes a lot
a lot
a lot
and sometimes even more.

Enters the evening.
enters the evening with a couple of old songs wind fills the vacuum as I wait for my place in the operation theatre I have learnt it the hard way I cannot control the passage of time nor can I have more of it sooner or later I'll be gone I share with the wretched world but only my own wretchedness the very silence that would put me to sleep now comes to me to chop me into pieces I am not yet ready to take the big knife through my gut how far is the end if there's any to all of this. Later in the evening.
woke up got up from the bed took a dump wore my shorts and my t-shirt drove out to the tea stall at the corner parked my bike, sat there on a plastic chair sat kept sitting while the old woman ruffled through the fresh stock of cookies and candies and whatever kept sitting and watching 'What do you want?' she asked she had to ask What do I want? an interesting question, but how will I know 'A cup of tea' I told her and while she walked inside to cook tea, I got up at once and drove back to my home. What goes around goes around.
I had been away but I hadn't gone anywhere I get paid once every month, what a failure considering I have to live each day, every minute I do not wish for problems that I cannot solve I have solved many by being patient the ones I couldn't solve, needless to say, they have ruined me it's a day sad in appearance - leaves falling, neighbourhood noises, screams of a cat, a gathering sky above I had been away and I was here, boxed in red and darkness, pushing past midnights on the nights I shouldn't have been alive. A verse that better not rhyme.
it's a morning the existence of which even the most insane of us cannot deny and it's alright that it's here and not somewhere else. Copyright © Tomic Riter. All rights reserved.
