Anticipation

right before my eyes
another sun has set
the dark fang of plague
is finally here, ready to rip
my skin
my eyes close on the touch
of a breeze
my nose adjusts to the absence
of smell
i am slipping
out of this place,
out of this body.

  1. We intimate what comes for us before we succumb intellectually. Anticipation is physiological, like a sickness or a traumatic assault on our senses. The “dark fang of plague” connotes a beast ready to devour us. This intimation more often comes to us in the dark, for the imagination makes up for the limits on observation. Very well written and captivating with the clear and concise descriptions.
